As you may already know, I’m going on vacation in just a few days!
I leave for Sri Lanka on 28th February and return on 17th March, and for that time I plan to be completely away from my business (and screens in general for that matter).
This is a big step for me, and I’ve spent the last couple of weeks preparing my business for my absence (as I mentioned last week). I plan to reveal the details of how I managed to step away from a business that is so dependent upon my presence when I return; on the assumption that it all goes well of course, otherwise it may be a very different article!
But for the time being, I just wanted to let you know what my absence means for you. Keep Reading
On 28th February my girlfriend and I will be stepping on a plane to Dubai. From there we’ll catch another plane to Colombo, and my Asian adventure will begin!
As the time to leave grows nearer, I find myself getting more excited – for more that one reason. Vacationing in a completely alien part of the world will be an adventure in itself, but beyond that, my trip to Sri Lanka represents a experiment that could change the way I do business forever. Last year I went to Alive in Berlin. It was my first ever conference and I didn’t really know what to expect.
I needn’t have worried. I met countless awesome people (many of whom I am still in touch with and very much look forward to seeing again in May), saw some inspiring talks, and had the opportunity to explore one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Here are some highlights from Alive in Berlin 2014:
My time in Berlin was a huge catalyst for change, and I’m still feeling the reverberations of my experiences there to this day. I can’t wait to go back because I know it will have just as big an impact (if not bigger) this time around!
I’d also love to see you there though. I’ve not met that many Leaving Work Behind fans in person, and Alive in Berlin is an opportunity for that to happen.
So, if you have an adventurous spirit, an interest in expanding your horizons and are looking for something to push you into a new direction, join me at Alive in Berlin this May.
Early bird tickets are on sale from 14th-18th February. Within those dates you’ll have an opportunity to purchase an Alive in Berlin ticket at a healthy discount.
When I first set out on this road back in May 2011, I had aspirations to be a “big” blogger.
I wanted to be up there with the Pro Bloggers and Smart Passive Incomes of the blogosphere. I wanted to attract huge number of visitors and accrue subscribers at an exponential rate.
I gobbled up stories of bloggers who had amassed thousands (or tens of thousands) of subscribers in days, or even hours. I dreamt of publishing that one piece that went ‘viral’.
Why? Partly because of ego, but mainly because I assumed that the above achievements were prerequisites to success in the blogosphere. Based on what most ‘make money online’ bloggers say, I believed that you need to attract huge numbers of visitors and build an email list in the mid five figures (or more) to make big bucks.
